Capriole AI has three chat-history behaviors. Leave both storage switches off for default account-synced history, enable Enable local storage for browser-only history, or enable Enable No Storage for a temporary session that disappears after you leave or refresh the page. These controls are built into the same workspace that supports frontier-model chat, mid-conversation model switching, files, and web search. Signed-out visitors and Free users can try the current flagship set before paying. Premium costs USD 8 per month for unlimited browser chat across the supported Premium model set. You must be signed in to change these settings.

Compare the three behaviors

These settings control Capriole chat-history persistence. Model requests still travel through Capriole and the selected inference provider. The settings do not make a general compliance or zero-operational-record promise.

Open the storage settings

1

Sign in to Capriole AI

Open Capriole AI and sign in. The storage switches do not change state for a signed-out visitor.
2

Open Account

Select your avatar or name at the bottom of the Capriole AI sidebar, then select Account from the menu. Scroll to the Settings section. You should see Enable No Storage above Enable local storage.

Keep account-synced history

Leave Enable No Storage and Enable local storage off. New chat history is stored with your account, can sync across devices, and can use saved uploads. Choose this behavior for work you expect to reopen from another browser or device. If another storage mode is enabled, turn it off. A chat that was intentionally deleted or lost from browser data cannot be recreated by changing the setting back.

Keep history in this browser

Turn on Enable local storage. The active storage behavior changes to browser-only history. Conversations remain available in the current browser and can still appear in its history list. They do not sync to another device, and file uploads are disabled.
Clearing this browser’s site data deletes the local conversations. Capriole cannot restore browser-only history from account storage.
Turn Enable local storage off to use default account-synced storage for new work.

Start a No Storage session

Enabling No Storage permanently deletes all conversation history from the server and this browser. Read the confirmation before continuing.
1

Enable No Storage

In AccountSettings, turn on Enable No Storage.Capriole opens a dialog titled Delete all chats?. The setting has not changed yet.
2

Confirm the deletion

Select Delete to remove the saved server and browser history and enter No Storage mode. Select Cancel if you need to keep the existing conversations. After deletion, the chat history and search section disappears from the sidebar. Enable local storage is disabled while No Storage remains on.
3

Use the temporary chat

Send messages without attaching files. The current conversation exists for the active page session and disappears after you leave or refresh the page.Turn Enable No Storage off when you want new chats to use default account-synced history again. Previously deleted conversations do not return.

Choose by consequence

Changing models does not override the storage setting. The model-switching article explains how a supported model can handle the next turn inside an active conversation. Default synced storage is also required for Browser Chat attachments. The files and web search guide covers supported formats, size limits, and source inspection.

Common questions

Does Local mode keep a history list?

Yes. The current browser can list, search, rename, pin, and delete its local threads. Another browser or device cannot see them.

Can I upload a file in Local or No Storage mode?

No. File uploads require default account-synced storage.

Does No Storage keep the current chat after a refresh?

No. Leaving or refreshing the page ends that temporary session.

Can I recover chats deleted when No Storage was enabled?

No. The confirmation deletes server and browser chat history permanently.

Do these settings stop the model provider from receiving a request?

No. They control chat history inside the Capriole workspace. The request still needs to reach Capriole and the selected model provider for inference.

Keep the choice inside one workspace

Capriole lets you change the storage boundary without changing AI products or rebuilding the conversation in another interface. Try the flagship models in limited free browser chat, then upgrade to Premium for unlimited browser chat and the complete workspace. Facts checked: 2026-08-10.
