Claude Pro and Max users hit usage limits because every paid Claude plan has a five-hour session limit and a weekly limit, and claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code all draw on them. Long chats, tools, higher effort, and larger models use the allowance faster. If you mainly chat, Capriole AI Premium gives you unlimited web chat with Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Opus 5.5, plus GPT-6 Astra and Gemini 4 Argon, for USD 8 a month. For heavy coding-agent work, the same account includes an API that costs up to 92% less than official API prices.

Claude plans and limits compared

How Claude’s usage limits work

Anthropic’s help center describes two limits on paid plans:
  • A session limit that resets every five hours.
  • A weekly limit across all models, which resets at a fixed time assigned to your account.
Anthropic says it may also limit usage in other ways, such as monthly caps or limits on specific models and features. You can see your progress in Settings → Usage on claude.ai. The limits are shared. Usage in claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code counts toward the same allowance, so a long Claude Code session can leave little room for chat. Switching to another Claude model does not reset it, because the weekly limit covers all models.

Why you hit the limit faster than expected

Anthropic lists what uses more of your allowance:
  • long and complex conversations
  • the model you choose
  • higher effort levels and extended thinking
  • tools and connectors, which use many tokens
  • large project files, which take up context
  • long chats that trigger automatic context management
Fable 5.1 adds its own rule. On Pro, Fable 5 and Fable 5.1 are not part of the plan’s usage limits, so every Fable message runs on usage credits billed at standard API rates. On Max, Fable models can use up to 50% of your weekly limits at no extra cost.

What Anthropic suggests when you hit a limit

  1. Wait for the reset. The session limit resets every five hours, and Settings → Usage shows when.
  2. Upgrade. Anthropic describes Max 5x as ideal for frequent users and Max 20x as ideal for daily users who work with Claude on most tasks. A new plan’s limits apply right away.
  3. Turn on usage credits. Credits keep you working after a limit, billed at standard API rates. You can set a monthly spending cap.
  4. Use less per message. Start a new conversation instead of extending a long one, lower the effort level, turn off extended thinking and unneeded tools, and shorten project instructions.
If you reach the five-hour limit in the middle of a Claude Code response, Claude Code may finish the current step before it stops. On Pro, that happens at most once per weekly usage period.

Unlimited Claude web chat for USD 8

Capriole AI Premium costs USD 8 a month for unlimited web chat on every supported model, including Claude Fable 5.1, Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra, and Gemini 4 Argon. Web chat on Capriole AI has no five-hour session and no weekly limit, only a fair-use limit of 200 messages per account per day. Fable 5.1 does not need usage credits. Every model is part of the same unlimited web chat, and you can switch models mid-chat, for example from Claude Opus 5.5 to Claude Fable 5.1 for a harder step, without starting over. Premium also includes free image generation with GPT Image 2.5 and Nano Banana 2.1, files and web search, projects, chat export, personalization, and storage controls.

Heavy coding-agent use: the API route

Unlimited web chat does not cover coding agents. For Claude Code and other agents, use a Capriole AI API key. Agent requests draw on a metered API balance that costs up to 92% less than official API prices. USD 8 per 5M tokens is USD 1.60 per million, for input and output alike. Premium includes 5M API tokens a month, and top-ups cost USD 8 per 5M tokens of any supported model. Cached input counts at 10%, as charged tokens explains. Claude Code connects through Capriole AI’s Anthropic Messages endpoint. The same key works with 10 documented coding agents, including Codex. Start with the Claude Code setup. Claude Max includes monthly API credits, but Anthropic says they don’t cover interactive Claude Code sessions or extra usage after you hit your plan’s limits.

What you give up

Capriole AI is an independent workspace, not affiliated with Anthropic. It is not the Claude app. Features that exist only in Anthropic’s products, such as Artifacts, connectors, memory, Claude in Chrome, and the Claude desktop and mobile apps, are not part of Capriole AI. Claude Code still works, through the API route above.

Frequently asked questions

Long conversations, tools and connectors, higher effort, and larger models all use more of the allowance. Claude Code and claude.ai also share the same limits, so coding sessions reduce what is left for chat.
The session limit resets every five hours. The weekly limit resets at a fixed time assigned to your account. Check Settings → Usage on claude.ai for your reset times.
Not in Pro’s usage limits. Anthropic bills Fable 5.1 on Pro through usage credits at standard API rates. On Max, Fable models can use up to 50% of the weekly limits. On Capriole AI Premium, Fable 5.1 is part of unlimited web chat for USD 8 a month.
For people, yes. The limit exists to stop scripted, automated abuse. The busiest real user has sent 132 messages in a day.
Yes, with a Capriole AI API key from Premium or Team. Claude Code requests use the metered API balance, not unlimited web chat. See the Claude Code setup.
