Capriole AI costs USD 8 per month for unlimited web chat with GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1, Claude Opus 5.5, and Gemini 4 Argon, and its API costs up to 92% less than official API prices. Venice Pro costs USD 18 per month for unlimited text prompts on its Pro models, while its pricing page puts frontier text models on credits. Venice’s API charges Claude Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra at the same per-token rates as Anthropic and OpenAI. Choose Capriole for frontier models at a low flat price. Choose Venice if you want uncensored open-source models, zero-data-retention or end-to-end encrypted inference, or video and music generation. We checked Venice’s pricing page, API pricing, and privacy documentation for this comparison.

Quick comparison

Capriole’s unlimited chat has a fair-use limit of 200 messages a day per signed-in account, set against scripted abuse. Start chatting free or get an API key.

Price for frontier-model chat

Venice Pro costs USD 18 a month. Its pricing page lists unlimited text prompts on Pro models and 1,000 images a day, and says you use frontier image and text models with credits. Pro includes 100 credits a month, and Venice sets 100 credits at USD 1. Pro Plus at USD 68 includes 7,500 credits, and Max at USD 200 includes 22,500. Yearly billing saves up to 16.7%. The pricing page does not name which chat models count as frontier models. Capriole Premium costs USD 8 a month with no credit meter on web chat. GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1, Claude Opus 5.5, Gemini 4 Argon, and every other supported model are unlimited.

API price for the same workload

Venice’s API is pay-per-use at its published model rates. Its docs say there is no unmetered API tier, and a paid subscription does not include free or unlimited API usage. Paid plans include a monthly API allowance of USD 1 on Pro, USD 75 on Pro Plus, and USD 225 on Max. The table prices 5M tokens with three input tokens for every output token and no caching. Capriole Premium includes 5M API tokens a month, and more cost USD 8 per 5M tokens. The Claude API pricing and OpenAI API pricing pages compare the same rates with Anthropic and OpenAI. One Capriole key works with OpenAI Chat Completions, OpenAI Responses, and Anthropic Messages, and powers 10 documented coding agents. Venice documents an OpenAI-compatible API at https://api.venice.ai/api/v1, with a Responses endpoint in beta. Its Claude Code guide adds claude-code-router, an open-source local tool that converts Anthropic Messages requests into Venice’s OpenAI-compatible format.

Privacy

Privacy is Venice’s main focus. Its docs describe four modes, set per model:
  • Anonymized: Venice does not send your identity to the model provider, but the provider still sees the prompt. Venice’s API pricing lists its Claude, GPT, and Gemini models in this mode.
  • Private: Prompts and responses are processed for inference only and not retained.
  • TEE: Supported models run inside hardware-isolated enclaves.
  • E2EE: Your client encrypts the prompt, and only a verified enclave decrypts it.
Venice says it does not store or log prompt and response content for normal inference. Its pricing page lists conversation history stored locally, with encrypted backup and restore on Pro. Capriole does not use your chats, files, or API content for training, and you can keep chat history on your account, only in your browser, or nowhere; privacy and data controls has the details. For frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, both products send your prompt to that provider. Venice’s stronger guarantees apply to the open-source models it runs in Private, TEE, or E2EE mode.

Frequently asked questions

Is Capriole AI cheaper than Venice?

For frontier models, yes. Capriole Premium costs USD 8 a month for unlimited chat with all four current flagships. Venice Pro costs USD 18 and puts frontier text models on credits, with 100 credits, or USD 1, a month.

Is Venice’s API cheaper than official prices?

Not for these flagships. Venice lists Claude Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra at USD 10 input and USD 50 output per 1M tokens, the same as Anthropic and OpenAI. Capriole charges USD 8 per 5M tokens of any supported model, up to 92% less.

Which is more private?

Venice, for open-source models in Private, TEE, or E2EE mode. For Claude, GPT, and Gemini, both send your prompt to the model provider. Capriole lets you keep no stored chat history and does not train on your content.

Does Venice support Claude Code?

Yes, with an add-on. Venice’s guide installs claude-code-router to convert Claude Code’s Anthropic Messages requests into its OpenAI-compatible format. Capriole supports Anthropic Messages directly, so Claude Code needs only its own settings. See the Claude Code setup.
